Yannan Ma (Mayan) is a Chinese artist and designer who is a current OCADU student. Growing up in Kuwait, Mayan practiced traditional media in painting and drawing. His art often gravitates towards creating surrealist fantasies and depicting beautifully empty, urban spaces. He is interested in world building and using art to create new realities where the beauty and excitement comes from exploring these unfamiliar environments. He is also interested in applying design knowledge to problem spaces and creating potential digital solutions. After enrolling in OCADU for the Digital Futures program, Mayan has further developed his interests in digital media. He has experience working with XR technologies, game design, coding, 3D modeling, texturing, image editing, video editing, and animation.

He has experience using Unity, Maya, Substance Painter, Substance Designer, Photoshop, Premiere Pro, and Visual Studio Code.

Additionally, he has a lot of experience working collaboratively and has the required skills to function in a team, such as good communication, brainstorming, managing schedules, setting deadlines, using collaborative online tools, and leadership skills.
